西雅圖沒有雨,加州沒有陽光。

我們的Anders又懶床,結果呢? Albert上了我們的房間後他還沒有準備好,出發時已經是十一點。在附近找了一家名叫「in and out」的快餐店吃漢堡包。Albert點了一個Animal Style Double Double,我也要了一個, Animal Style也是洋葱, double double 的意思是double beef, double cheese。如此古怪的食物名字真是聞所未聞,說真的,又有多少人知道口水雞和螞蟻上樹....

接著我們乘Albert的車,他的車子是兩車門的,很特別可以自動扣上安全帶。開了很久,然後到了比較南部的Stanford Campus。期待的工學院沒有找到,卻找到了以為在日本才有的櫻花。去了書店,又遇著年度盤點。很氣,老是遇著古怪不正常的情況,然後就爆了一句:「西雅圖沒有雨,加州沒有陽光。」這就成了本篇的主題。

接著我們用車子在Stanford Market轉了一圈,由於還是下著大雨的關係,我們沒有留下來。我們再去了別外一家叫Borders的大書店。沿途我們看見了彩虹,我很想我的相機能夠把彩虹拍下來,實際上那是不可能的,Rainbow,沒有你的份兒。我們一邊喝著咖啡一邊看書,很是寫意。我看的書有很多,之前在日記上留言了一本詩篇,其實我也看很多其它不同類型的書本,金庸的武俠小說和張小嫻的愛情小說,比較上容易看懂。老人與海沒有讀多少,太深了。Alice in the wonderland是我很想看的故事,紅樓夢也是經典名著。但是要說我最喜歡看的,還是我的數學,這個興趣陪伴我很多年了。在Borders翻了翻Number Theory, Quadratic Residue還是沒有看懂,而Elliptic Curve的第一課全是在define complex manifold。看了看,挺有趣的,但時間有限,我和Albert先離開了Border,去探望他家人。

最理想的,當然是想見見他姐,他姐剛生了一個小孩。到了BZ餐館,和他父親打了個招呼,他就忙他的了。反而是他母親跟我談了很多,談事業談親情談兒女私情。一個人上了年紀,時間就讓她慮積了很多經驗,每一句說話,聽起來都好像很有道理,或者我現在明白不了全部。後來,林小妹子來了。我上次見她的95年還是個四處走動的小女生,現在已經是個亭亭玉立的十八歲少女。女大十八變真是說得不錯,她竟然叫我Uncle Andrew .... 我又沒有哥哥,也沒有孩子,而且怎麼看都還年青吧,怎會是uncle。他姐在路上堵車,我們等不了,就去了Elephant Bar吃我們的晚餐。

在Elephant Bar我們和Gordon, Anders還有另外一個小學同學一起吃飯。吃著吃著,我終於也能見到他姐跟她丈夫Chris,當然也見到小孩。一如所料,孩子很可愛,比較像媽媽,畢竟因為是個女孩子。闊別多年,很多事情都變了,和Albert能友誼長存,我很是感動。他與我們回旅店時跟我說了很多,我希望都做得到。但是畢竟我們會在現實裏,又有多少事情可以在掌握之內?我還沒有時間多想,時間已經是一點,累得不得了就睡了,這兩篇日記還是次日寫的。

謹在此祝願小孩快高長大,身體健康。說得一口流利英語之外別忘了自已是中國人,流著中國人的血。

很高興能跟 Andrew 在三藩市再會, 一起遊玩談天, 更認識了 Anders 和 Gordon 兩位新朋友。 雖然我當導遊的經驗不多, 加上天氣不合作, 令這個旅程未能如計劃般理想, 但總算是渡過了一段快樂的時光。 但願在不久的將來可以再次聚首。
